The Process

The Beaverton School District offers four year-long courses:
-Health Careers 1 (HC1)
-Anatomy and Physiology (A&P)
-Advanced Health Careers (AHC)
-Nurse Assisting (NA)
Sophomores or Juniors forecasting for Health Careers 1 and Anatomy & Physiology
  1. Review the slide show presentation on the "Program Information" page of this website.
  2. Forecast for Health Careers 1 AND Anatomy and Physiology at your home high school (Feb-March).
  3. Be sure to also forecast for an alternative course as we have limited enrollment.  Currently, we accept 200 incoming students and hold an enrollment of over 350 students total.
  4. After forecasting, the BSD District Options Office holds a lottery for all spots and returns the results to both your home HS counselor and our program.
  5. Your home high school will inform you of your final school schedule and we will reach out to those selected to confirm acceptance and special beginning of the year instructions.
  6. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to the BSD District Options Office.
Juniors forecasting for Adv. Health Careers or Nurse Assisting
  1. As long as you have successfully completed both Health Careers 1 and your Anatomy & Physiology courses with your instructor's sign off you have options for your 2nd year.
  2. Successful completion includes, but is not limited to earning a C or better in both HC1 and A&P, passing your BLS certification exam, demonstrating successful attendance, professionalism, academic integrity and communication skills.
  3. Forecast for either Advanced Health Careers (2) elective credits, held one class period daily all year long.  Or Nurse Assisting (2) elective credit at BHS.  This means the class is held for two class periods every other day all year long. (there is a special application we will provide for Nurse Assisting as it is limited by the Oregon State Board of Nursing to 40 senior students)
