Advanced Health Careers
Classroom Skills and Clinical Rotations
  • Intro to pathophysiology of common diseases
  • Clinical skill proficiency
  • Medical Terminology 
  • Professional skills
  • Confidentiality & ethics
  • Clinical rotations
  • Service projects
  • HOSA
  • 4 potential Portland Community College credits
  • Clinical rotations are for program seniors only
  • They are usually Monday through Thursday, during class time.  However, may be scheduled around mentor and student availability
  • Vary in length from 6 to 18 hours
  • Placements are assigned based on student interests and the exploratory philosophy of the program
  • While on Clinical Rotation students make personal learning goals for each day and for each rotation
  • Each student has three assignments to complete while on clinical rotations (weekly journals, a Clinical Education Plan/CEP and an exit interview)
  • Daily attendance and the exit interview are
     facilitated by forms given to the students

Nurse Assisting
Classroom Skills and Clinical Hours Required
  •  Excellent attendance
  •  Personal responsibility and self management
  •  Interest in bedside care
  • 7 potential Clackamas Community College credits
  • By year end students will be eligible to sit for the Oregon State Board of Nursing exam for CNAs          (Certified Nurse Assistant 1)
  • Bedside care of patients is the heart of the curriculum, vital signs, personal care and clinical observations.
  • This class meets every other day with 1 extended day each month and 80 clinical hours (including some non-traditional school days)
