The Process

The Beaverton School District offers four year-long courses:

-Anatomy and Physiology (A&P)
-Advanced Health Careers (AHC)
-Nurse Assisting (NA)
Sophomores or Juniors forecasting for Health Careers 1 and Anatomy & Physiology
  1. Complete the online BSD Health Careers 1 application by the designated deadline. Application Link HERE (available Late Jan/Early Feb 2020)
  2. You will receive an email confirmation from the district options office. Print a copy of this confirmation and attach it to your home school forecasting sheet.
  3. Sign up for Health Careers 1 (HC1) located at BHS. HC1 is a full year course worth one (1) elective credit meeting one period every other day all year long.
  4. Sign up for Anatomy and Physiology on your home campus or apply to take Anatomy & Physiology as well on the BHS campus (see your counselor)
  5. Applicants must attend one of the following MANDATORY Health Careers Open Houses for their application to be included in the lottery. Dates Tuesday, March 31st or Thursday, April 2nd 6pm-8pm at Beaverton High School.
  6. ***Due to COVID-19 precautions and BSD current policies THERE WILL BE NO MANDATORY MEETING NIGHTS HELD.  At this point we are waiting to hear from the BSD Learning Options Program on how this year's selection process will proceed.  Thank you for your patience and understanding in this unique situation.***
Juniors forecasting for Adv. Health Careers or Nurse Assisting
  1. As long as you have successfully completed both Health Careers 1 and your Anatomy & Physiology courses with your instructor's sign off you have options for your 2nd year.
  2. Sign up for either Advanced Health Careers (2) elective credits, held one class period daily all year long.  Or Nurse Assisting (2) elective credit at BHS.  This means the class is held for two class periods every other day all year long.
